Lunsford: A Journey of Success and Excellence

Modern Foreign Languages

Modern foreign languages are a statutory part of the National Curriculum at key stage 2. At Lunsford we have chosen to study French.

At Lunsford Primary School we teach French in key stage 2 using the Language Angels scheme, which enables all key stage 2 pupils to access the requirements of the curriculum through interactive stories, songs and games, with support and progression built into every unit of work. The children study a unit spread across two terms, allowing the content to be practised and embedded.

This academic year we have an assessment focus, which was agreed with the previous MFL lead, Mrs Adams. At the end of each of the three units taught per year group, children will be given a language angels assessment task including reading, writing, listening and speaking. They will also complete a self-assessment sheet for that unit.  At the end of each academic year class teachers will complete a graded assessment for each child, which will be forwarded on to their next class teacher and to the MFL lead.

Of course, other languages and cultures are celebrated throughout the school at different times of the year. If you or your child speak another language, please do let your teachers know!

The MFL Subject Leader is Mrs Regan ( two day PPA cover teacher) she can be contacted through the office.
