Vision & Values

Lunsford Primary School

A “Journey of Success and Excellence” for every child at Lunsford.

Our Vision Statement

At Lunsford Primary School, we are committed to creating a nurturing, inspiring and ambitious environment where every child is valued, supported and challenged to achieve their full potential.

We believe that education is about preparing children for life, not just for the classroom. Our aim is to develop confident, resilient and independent learners who are equipped with the knowledge, skills and character needed to succeed in an ever-changing world.

Through high expectations, strong relationships and a commitment to excellence, we provide every child with the opportunity to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

A Journey of Success and Excellence for Every Child.

Our School Culture

At Lunsford, we are proud of our inclusive and supportive school community. Children, staff, parents and governors work together to create a culture where everyone feels respected, valued and encouraged to succeed.

We achieve this through:

  • High-quality teaching and learning that enables every child to achieve their best.
  • A broad, balanced and engaging curriculum that promotes creativity, curiosity and ambition.
  • A strong focus on developing excellent foundations in reading, writing and mathematics.
  • Enrichment opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom, including experiences such as Forest School.
  • Positive relationships built on trust, kindness and mutual respect.
  • Encouraging children to embrace challenge and take ownership of their learning.

We believe there is no limit to what our pupils can achieve. It is our privilege to nurture their talents, develop their character and provide the foundations for lifelong success and learning.

Our Values

Our six school values were developed in partnership with children, parents, staff and governors. They underpin everything we do and help to shape the culture of our school.

Kindness

We are caring, compassionate and considerate towards others.

Kindness is shown through our words, actions and choices. We encourage children to support one another, celebrate differences and contribute positively to our school community.

Respect

We value ourselves, others and the world around us.

Respect is demonstrated through listening carefully, showing good manners, valuing different viewpoints, caring for property and the environment, and treating others as we would wish to be treated.

Positivity

We approach learning and life with optimism and a belief that we can succeed.

A positive attitude helps children to develop confidence, resilience and a growth mindset. We encourage our pupils to embrace the power of "yet" and understand that improvement comes through effort and determination.

Perseverance

We keep going when things are challenging.

Perseverance means showing determination, learning from mistakes and continuing to strive for success. We encourage children to see challenges as opportunities to grow and develop resilience.

Responsibility

We take ownership of our actions, learning and behaviour.

Children are encouraged to make positive choices, act with integrity, care for others and contribute responsibly to both the school community and the wider world.

Hard Work

We understand that effort leads to achievement.

Success comes from commitment, determination and consistent effort. We encourage children to take pride in their work, strive for excellence and develop habits that will support them throughout their lives.

British Values

In accordance with Department for Education guidance, we actively promote British Values alongside our school values to prepare pupils for life in modern Britain.

We encourage children to show respect and tolerance towards people of all backgrounds, faiths and cultures, and to understand the importance of living together within a diverse and democratic society.

The five fundamental British Values are:

  • Democracy
  • The Rule of Law
  • Individual Liberty
  • Mutual Respect
  • Tolerance of Those with Different Faiths and Beliefs

These values are embedded throughout school life, our curriculum and our wider enrichment opportunities, helping children to become responsible, respectful and active citizens.
