R.E

Lunsford Primary School follows the Kent Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education.

The principle aim of the RE syllabus is:

“To engage pupils in the systematic enquiry into significant human questions which religion and worldwide views address, so that they can develop the understanding and skills needed to appreciate and appraise varied responses to these questions, as well as develop responses of their own.”

There are three aims of RE:

  1. Know about and understand a range of religions and worldwide views.
  2. Express ideas and insights about the nature, significance and impact of religions and worldviews.
  3. Gain and deploy the skills needed to engage seriously with religions and worldwide views.

We learn about different beliefs and religions through both RE lessons and regular assemblies. We have excellent relationships with Holy Trinity Church, Larkfield; Larkfield Methodist Church and members of Humanists UK and Maidstone Inter-faith Network.

In the autumn of 2025 we were very proud to be awarded The WIRE (Widening Inclusivity in Religious Education) Award for Schools by Kent SACRE (Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education).

Mrs Lomax (Deputy Headteacher) is the RE lead at Lunsford. Please contact her via the school office if you have any questions or would like any more information.
