Equality Statement

At Lunsford Primary School, we are committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, and to ensuring that every member of our school community is valued and respected.

We strive to create a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment where all pupils, staff, parents and visitors are treated fairly and with dignity. We believe that every individual should have the opportunity to achieve their full potential and participate fully in school life, regardless of their background, identity or circumstances.

Our commitment to equality extends beyond our school community and reflects our role in preparing children to become responsible, respectful and active citizens in modern Britain.

Equality Act 2010

The Equality Act 2010 protects individuals from discrimination, harassment and victimisation on the basis of protected characteristics. These include:

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Gender reassignment
  • Marriage and civil partnership
  • Pregnancy and maternity
  • Race
  • Religion or belief
  • Sex
  • Sexual orientation

As a school, we are committed to meeting our responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty.

Public Sector Equality Duty

In accordance with the Equality Act 2010, we aim to:

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation.
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
  • Foster good relations between different groups within our school and the wider community.

Equality Objectives

As required by legislation, we:

  • Publish information demonstrating our compliance with the Public Sector Equality Duty.
  • Publish and review Equality Objectives at least every four years.
  • Monitor the impact of our policies and practices to ensure equality of opportunity for all.

Our Equality Objectives and Action Plan set out how we meet these responsibilities and support continuous improvement across the school.

Our Commitment

At Lunsford Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils and staff are provided with opportunities to fulfil their potential, irrespective of their age, disability, sex, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, pregnancy or maternity status, marriage or civil partnership status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

We recognise that these principles are underpinned by fundamental human rights and reflect the values of fairness, respect and inclusion that are central to our school community.
