At Lunsford Primary School, we believe that every child is unique and on their own individual learning journey. All of our teachers are teachers of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Through high-quality teaching, inclusive practice and carefully tailored support, we strive to meet the needs of all learners, enabling them to flourish academically, socially and emotionally.
We use our best endeavours to identify and meet the needs of children with SEND through a graduated approach to support. We work closely with pupils, parents, carers and external agencies to ensure that appropriate provision is in place and that progress is carefully monitored.
Provision is organised around the four broad areas of need identified in the SEND Code of Practice (2015):
Support is provided through a tiered approach:
High-quality, inclusive classroom teaching that meets the needs of all pupils.
Additional small-group interventions and catch-up programmes designed to address specific areas of need.
Individualised support and interventions for pupils with identified Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
Ms Sarah Beckett oversees SEND provision across the school.

Children and their families are at the heart of everything we do. All schools are required to make appropriate provision for children with SEND, taking account of their individual strengths and needs.
The SEND Mainstream Core Standards provides guidance for schools on how to meet the needs of children and young people with SEND, through inclusive practice, high quality teaching and appropriate support.
The SEND Mainstream Core Standards Parent Guide explains in a parent-friendly summary, how schools, local authorities and health services work together to ensure that children and young people with SEND receive the support they need. It provides a summary of the expectations and guidance given to schools across Kent.
